THE WRONG ALLIANCE, MARRYING JEZEBEL. PART 7

1 kings 16:29-34

As we continue to track the architect of the spirit of Jezebel so we can be prophetically equipped in dealing with it. We have reached a critical point in understanding how this spirit gets to infiltrate the community of God’s people and society.

There’s no better way to unveil the mystery of a spirit or character than being able to discover how such a spirit in the first place gets into such human space and heart. The formation of Alliances has always been one of the most effective instruments used for nations to prevent or stop protracted wars and battles between the two nations.

In most cases, this alliance is made through the payments of dowries and ransoms; and the given away of certain key villages, cities, or territories. But the most effective one is the giving away in marriage of the princess in most cases, or Prince in some case from one kingdom to the other as a seal of peace.

This idea as further been adopted by very wealthy and influential families across nations through the centuries for the purpose of keeping their riches, name, and fame from being corrupted by those deemed as the commoners or the ignoble of society. In the cases of Princess, often, they are usually prepared and groomed to be given away in marriage to other Kings or kingdom as a pawn that might become a very powerful and influential entity in the strategy of building or reinforcing alliance.

However, God, in his covenant sovereignty, wisdom, and relationship with the nation of Israel had pre-warned them never to go into any form of alliance with foreign, gentile nations. Not even ordinary Israelis citizens are allowed to marry from other nations under the Old Testament biblical law. They’ve been forbidden to marrying from countries that serves and worship foreign gods.

Marrying from nations that serves other gods outside the God of their fathers is a serious offense that carries severe punishment. Unfortunately, this violation has been of the greatest sins the children of Israel had committed in the sight of God by marrying and given their children in marriage to nations that worships Baal.

The plan of the Father for the children of Israel as a nation of a kingdom of priest was one of the reasons this law was promulgated. The issue of divine separation as a nation that will reflect the standard and glory of God to the rest of the world was and is still a major objective in the call to stand out from the rest of the world.

The easiest way for the enemy to infiltrate the prophetic activity of the Father in the earth is through wrong connections and alliance. As powerful as relationship means to the prophetic advancement of the purposes of God, particularly, a marriage relationship, so is relationship one of Satan’s key strategies in seeking to cripple, pollute, and destroy the agenda of God.

We today live in a world where what informs our connection to people is basically sensual and material base, and this has made it even easier for the enemy to carry out his diabolic attacks. If all we are preoccupied with is a pleasure to be derived from a relationship without considering another critical impact such a relationship will usher into our lives and space, then it means we really do not understand the effects of spiritual things around our lives.

The life and objective of a relationship cannot be genuinely comprehended through emotion or intelligence as highly important as they may be.  We need spiritual knowledge, insight, and wisdom in going into any kind of activity that we bind us with other people, so we are not taking advantage of through ignorance. Humans are carriers of spirits; these spirits can the right or wrong spirit.

Sometimes, the issues we are trying to resolve or make sense of in marriage or in our workplace are more of spiritual than just a position of bad attitude, and even in cases of bad character, these characters or attitudes can be traced to spiritual issues that seek to get us to a place of point of compromise by the enemy.  This is one of the major reasons we should be careful regarding who we define to be it friends or relationship, and worst still, who we finally decide to choose to be our life-partner in marriage. These are major, life decisions that cannot be made on face value or in the context of emotional excitement.

Marriage is not just about two people coming to live together because they both claim to ‘love’ each other. Love is a big part of our lives we, unfortunately, know very little about. There is great advantage to marriage when we understand its main purpose and objective from God’s perfect ice, after all, marriage was his idea. Unfortunately, there are also serious consequences to marriage when we ignorantly ignore the foundational values and framework that ought be in place before we go into a covenant of marriage.

In Joshua chapter 6 we see a terrible mistake made by the children of Israel under the military leadership of Joshua regarding the Gibeonite. The children ignorantly allowed themselves to be tricked into false alliance to present the Israelites from attacking the Gibeonite.

Marriage is one of the highest levels of blood covenant and when it’s made ignorantly without a precise, biblical, prophetic direction, we can directly or indirectly bind ourselves to certain obligations, contracts, covenant, or even influence of the powers of darkness.

In relating to the people of God, insecurity and the lack of trust is what pushes most of the kings to join affinity with other nations, particularly, through the medium of marriage. In the cases of others, it’s just the issue of lust like we see in relations to King Solomon and King Ahab.

One of the main things that brought Solomon with his great wisdom, wealth, and power down as the Son of one of the greatest Kings ever lived in human history, King David, was his love for foreign women, and the scripture told us that Solomon foreign wives turned his heart away from the love of the God of his Father David. The bible told us that they tuned Solomon heart away from God when he began to get old. As we begin to track the fall of great kingdoms, empires, and ordinary people right from bible days to this present day, one can see is clear that great men and leaders fall due to marrying the wrong person.

AHAB MARRIED JEZEBEL.

The marriage of princess Jezebel the daughter of King Ethbaal, a Phoenician empire was a serious crime in the sight of God that brought terrible consequence to the house of Ahab, and the entire nation of Israel. Ahab, the son of Omri did not just marry Jezebel due to the issue of protecting his kingdom, at least, the scripture never suggested this; Ahab took Jezebel in marriage due to arrogance, and lust in disobedience to the command of the Lord.

As many theologians will further confirm that Jezebel was not just a mere Princess but in fact, she was a priestess of Baal. She was a direct worshipper of Beelzebub, and we will later see how she turned the capital of Israel that became Samaria to the capital of Baal worship. Beyond the sin of Jeroboam that was committed by Ahab, he further angered God by going to join hands in marriage to a nation that is openly committed to the worship of idols. Idolatry is one of the highest crimes any human, family, or society can commit before God.

Because of the leadership position and influence of Ahab, he exposed the entire nation to the spirit of Beelzebub, and this is where the judgement of God took another turn regarding the nation of Israel. As we can see the scripture that the direct judgement of God against Baal worship was is an attack on the economy and that’s because Baal worshippers believed that Baal is the provider of rain and good crops.
