PSALM 16
8 I HAVE SET THE LORD ALWAYS BEFORE ME. BECAUSE HE IS AT MY RIGHT HAND, I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN. 9 THEREFORE MY HEART IS GLAD AND MY TONGUE REJOICES; MY BODY ALSO WILL DWELL SECURELY.…
ROMANS 5
1 THEREFORE, SINCE WE HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED THROUGH FAITH, WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, 2 THROUGH WHOM WE HAVE GAINED ACCESS BY FAITH INTO THIS GRACE IN WHICH WE NOW STAND. AND WE BOAST IN THE HOPE OF THE GLORY OF GOD. 3 NOT ONLY SO, BUT WE ALSO GLORY IN OUR SUFFERINGS, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT SUFFERING PRODUCES PERSEVERANCE; 4 PERSEVERANCE, CHARACTER; AND CHARACTER, HOPE. 5 AND HOPE DOES NOT PUT US TO SHAME, BECAUSE GOD’S LOVE HAS BEEN POURED OUT INTO OUR HEARTS THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHO HAS BEEN GIVEN TO US.
MATHEW 9 :9-10
AS JESUS WENT ON FROM THERE, HE SAW A MAN NAMED MATTHEW SITTING AT THE TAX BOOTH. “FOLLOW ME,” HE TOLD HIM, AND MATTHEW GOT UP AND FOLLOWED HIM. 10 LATER, AS JESUS WAS DINING AT MATTHEW’S HOUSE, MANY TAX COLLECTORS AND SINNERS CAME AND ATE WITH HIM AND HIS DISCIPLES.…
MATHEW 16
13 WHEN JESUS CAME TO THE REGION OF CAESAREA PHILIPPI, HE QUESTIONED HIS DISCIPLES: “WHO DO PEOPLE SAY THE SON OF MAN IS?”
14 THEY REPLIED, “SOME SAY JOHN THE BAPTIST; OTHERS SAY ELIJAH; AND STILL OTHERS, JEREMIAH OR ONE OF THE PROPHETS.”
15 “BUT WHAT ABOUT YOU?” JESUS ASKED. “WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?”
16 SIMON PETER ANSWERED, “YOU ARE THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.”
17 JESUS REPLIED, “BLESSED ARE YOU, SIMON SON OF JONAH!B FOR THIS WAS NOT REVEALED TO YOU BY FLESH AND BLOOD, BUT BY MY FATHER IN HEAVEN. 18 AND I TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE PETER, AND ON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, AND THE GATES OF HADES WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT. 19 I WILL GIVE YOU THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. WHATEVER YOU BIND ON EARTH WILL BE BOUND IN HEAVEN, AND WHATEVER YOU LOOSE ON EARTH WILL BE LOOSED IN HEAVEN.”
Every day, we are called to examine ourselves in the light of the truth of the gospel of the kingdom that we have accepted, and that we are becoming more like christ through the transforming power of the word of God. The call to follow christ is not religious or ceremonial duties that lack the power of change in us, but that transformation. Transformation begins from the point of allowing the power of the truth of the god’s word to take firm deep root in the good soil of our hearts.
Becoming more like christ through the acquired theological knowledge and divine experiences that we have received in our relationship with christ, and the matter of his kingdom is crucial to our transition to maturity and representation. Unfortunately, many have continued to miss this critical point, even in their pursuit of spirituality. It seems we are still yet to understand and accept the main point of redemption.
The priority of so many in the church has continued to contradict the essence of their redemption and calling to follow christ. The essence of redemption is to be transformed into the image and likeness of Jesus christ.
After we’ve accepted the gift of salvation, our chief calling is to follow Jesus Christ. To follow christ is a critical part of our entire life development. It is in the place of following christ and not church things that we get to know christ and understand ourselves in a manner that allow us to develop the right worldview. Many of the challenges and conflicts we are seeing amongst brethren is due to the lack of a well-established relationship with christ and his kingdom. This is a main problem that i believe needs to be look into again even as we seek to serve the lord.
Often when we give our life to Jesus, we easily give into some form of premature calling to do something for the lord, and there’s nothing wrong with having a desire for service. In fact, that is what everyone should aspire. But the most important aspect of our desire to serve the lord is to first learning to follow christ. Following opens us up to various spiritual reality that expands the beauty, majesty, and sovereignty of our lord. The message and life nature of christ is not a secondary affair in the life of a believer; it is the chief point of spiritual maturity.
Following the Lord, him will lead us into all forms of spiritual dynamics and realities that will allow us to see the things that needs to be change in our life. Things that need to be discarded, dnd of course, the things that needs to be embraced and imbibed to make us better suited for our ultimate purpose and assignment.
It’s in this process of our following or working with the Jesus Christ that we get to be precisely reformed and transformed into the vessel that is prepared ready for the master’s use. Not all available instruments are ready to represent heaven’s prophetic assignment. Not every everyone available is indeed, suited for the apostolic ministry of this season. Therefore, it’s important that we look again or revisit the hope of our call to follow Jesus so we may truly be refined and ready for his use.
There are so many today who are busy pursuing some gift or Ministry that are to come to maturity while they have neglected the main Voice calling them to walk with Jesus Christ.
