BEING SPIRITUALLY CARNAL.

By Isaiah-Phillips Akintola

THE LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT, CONVERTING THE SOUL.

Part 1

Introduction.

In this latest article, I have sought to provide insight, answer, and direction to some of the most perplexing questions before the Body of Christ in relating to what has been erroneously defined and termed as spirituality or Church practice.

Several young and upcoming spiritual leaders today are confused, particularly in the area of determining the correct footing of what could be defined or described as an appropriate biblical practice of spiritual leadership. Jesus made a profound statement when he said, these people draw close to me with their mouth, but their heart is far from me.

This is one of the most deceptive characters highlighted regarding a spiritual relationship. The fact that we can vocalize all the right spiritual ‘things’, and still be spiritually disconnected and dysfunctional is a serious issue that should not be ignored or neglected.

The increase of sensual and demonic inspired leadership practice demands that we raise our prophetic discernment and biblical doctrine and spirituality such that everyone can easily identify false spiritual projections, particularly, in this season of increased darkness. We cannot fold our hands while charlatans continue to corrupt and misrepresent the prophetic intention of God for the Church and the nations.

We should engage these raised false altars and impression that has brought so much shame to the Body of Christ. I have tried to examine this highly interesting but complex subject through the eyes of the Spirit. It’s my prayer that you will take the time to carefully study and meditate on some of the points highlighted in the article. Please feel free to engage me in any area you may seek further expansion.

When we buy the lie

one of the major lies we have accepted as humans but particularly a major part of today’s church is to believe that one part of human is spiritual while the other aspects are none spiritual. The truth is, every single aspect of man is intricately designed to be spiritual both in existence and function. The creation of man and its various complex functions are all reflection of a certain degree of spirituality that takes the spiritually inform and awakened to understand.

Being spiritual is an integration of who we are, what we represent, and how we function emotionally, intelligently, physically, and of course, spiritually. Let’s examine some simple but critical facts that can assist us in the understanding of how human beings get to be shaped, develop, and function in behavior. I am not an expert on human development but I can say that I have extensively read books and research materials that back my knowledge on this subject. Further still, my work in the matter of spiritual development and leadership has given me rear opportunity to glean certain biblical values that have enhanced my insight and understanding.

Development and knowledge

We’ve all had of what is known as early childhood development (ECD). Experts reckon that the first 1000 days in the life of a child is critical because that is the formative process period of a child’s interaction to life. In other words, this period determines how the child will see, view and interact with so many things we define to be behavior and intelligence.

Intelligence is shaped and enhanced through early exposure to the necessary information and nurturing the brain requires to effectively function. As this point of fact applies to the natural realm, so does it apply to the concept of the spiritual infancy development of man.

Meaning that environment, either physical or spiritual plays a significant role in shaping our idea of knowledge and how we interpret such knowledge, especially in the area of defining truth and its application to real life events. The development or better still, the none development of the soul, which is the residence of human attitude, character, and behavioral pattern control how the brain process information, and how humans react and respond to such information, regardless of the spiritual state or carnal tendencies of such a person.

The brain which is part of the faculty of the soul operates based on a particular system of data inflow, particularly when such data is released frequently on a systematic, repetitive format.

Research has proved that the brain does not recognize the difference between imagination and reality. Thus, whatever gets infused within the human brain cognitive character long enough, becomes by default, the very reality the brain projects to such a person — this a profound law that has enhanced or even weaken the developmental journey of humans throughout history.

The power of reinforcement

Repetition reinforces what the brain thinks, sees, believes, and accept as its reality. No wonder the word of God declares, “as a man thinks in his (mind) heart so he is.

Any form of thought pattern, good or bad, creates a profound sense of reality within the mind if they are not immediately dealt with correctly.

Whatever we believe and accept as spiritually correct becomes what our brain accepts and reinforce as the truth within the various faculties of our being as the truth.

If we, therefore, do not have a biblically set pattern of determining and measuring truth and spirituality, we can easily fall into any deceptive trap of the enemy, and in fact, this is what the enemy is busy with today to lure many into his den of destruction.

I’ll like these basic facts to be the footing of some of the principles I want us to examine through this article as we continue to find the divine pattern for our spiritual reformation, transformation, and ultimate restoration even as the battle of light and darkness continues.

Unveiling carnality within spirituality.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

To be carnally minded is death and but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. The term carnality is a berry broadened word that goes beyond a particular act of sin. The biblical definition of carnality is anything outside the standard order and functional state and value system of the Spirit of God.

I will frequently use this term on a broad definition that should help us make sense of what the Spirit of the Lord is emphasizing in this hour, even as we continue to witness the false impressions of spirituality all around us. To understand and thoroughly apply the perfected law of the Lord in its true essence is to begin to step into the journey of the conversation and transformation of the soul back to its ordained, original place and function in Christ.

There are several ascended truths and high values we can glean from this profound statement made under divine inspiration through David, centuries-long before Christ our Redeemer came to earth. It’s evident that the main focus of the Spirit in this season is the conversion of the human soul and its entire operational faculties.

The need to continue to unravel the character nature of the soul-man is necessary to begin preparing the Body of Christ for the next spiritual emphasis of kingdom lifestyle and its governmental expression. There are just too many assumptions flagging around today in the name of biblical spirituality, or in the name of some kingdom manifestation that is totally contradictory to God’s divine order and value pattern.

Many out of shared zeal in our time have sought to run with some kind of apostolic mandate or prophetic message without clear knowledge and insight into how the deceptive, operative influence of the unregenerate soul seeks to corrupt and disregard the advancement of kingdom assignment. I do not believe that we can fully enter the scope of the third day ascended ministry of the ecclesia without a clear, broadened, prophetic insight into every sphere of human faculty operational system.

It will be a great mistake to venture into the realm of high-level kingdom spiritual activity within the context of the humanist, New Age definition of spirituality without a well-balanced, matured sense of biblical spiritual wisdom and authority of engagement.

Removing the footing of assumption

Therefore, pressing into the realm of kingdom possibility in this hour necessitate that each one of us returns to the school of Christ, and be upgraded on how the soul-man seeks to manipulate and circumvent the divine protocol of accurate spiritual ministry lifestyle.

In my past articles, I have sought to deal with the concept of the soul and how the mind operates. In this article, however, my focus is slightly different in the sense that I am trying to unravel how the unregenerate soul-man can almost successfully camouflage in its operations as an authentic spiritual manifestation.

It is a known fact that is worth repeating that many of the acts of war, destructions, wickedness, enslavements, corruption, perversion, religious cultism, social abuse, and many other destructive tendencies we’ve witnessed in history till this very day, all emanate from the fruit of the rebellious, unregenerate souls of men. The soul faculties of man by the act of the fall is morally corrupt and continually wicked in its desire and aspirations. The unrefined behavioral patterns of men find their roots from the fallen, Adamic character of the soul.

Beyond this, the influence of illegitimate leadership power either from the viewpoint of political manipulation, socioeconomic degradations, or the abuse of spiritual authority, are all products of the fallen, dysfunctional character values within the human soul. When that which is defined to be spiritual and sacred becomes the very instrument of deception, perversion, corruption, then, such narrative of spirituality calls for significant concern, and this is what I am seeking to highlight through this note.

What worries me is, a significant part of today’s church is fast losing the true meaning and essence of spirituality to that which is soulish and carnally motivated. As I read and interact with folks, especially on social media platforms, I see how a vast number of church members; individuals we once thought have spiritual understanding, stand up in defense of criminals who call themselves men and women of God.

It baffles me to see how folks confront and criticize authentic followers of Christ who stands up in defense of the truth. It is surprising to see how so-called Christians today can rise in defense of that which is indefensible. These brethren seem not to know nor understand what is biblically deem heretic from what is spiritual and doctrinally correct. I cannot but wonder what in the world is going on within the mind frame of many of our church folks today.

THE PROGRESSIVE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST

the progressive revelation of christ
Recalibrating the revelation of
the pattern son in the church

BY ISAIAH-PHILLIPS AKINTOLA

2 Corinthians 5:16-17
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

We can know Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the son of Joseph and Mary, and build an embankment around this rich, historical narrative of the gospel, or better still, camp around the wonderful, miraculous, ‘bless me type of ministry’ that surrounds the narrow minded, religious, material gospel philosophy we’re witnessing today, and never really proceed further to experience his full spiritual richness in our lives and ministries.

The fallen, religious human mind is a very complex faculty in that it’s been tutored and programmed to see and even create its own reality of ‘truth’ from a very narrow, self-serving, idealistic perspective, and this can really limit us from pressing into the scope of discovering the revelatory depth of who Jesus Christ ought to be in and through our lives. A proper, honest examination of our spiritual footing will greatly explain our current spiritual configuration, priority, and the quality of knowledge we are presently pursuing in the environment of kingdom expression.

In my personal walk with the Lord and the experience I have witnessed from others, I’ve discovered that we can easily be limited, or sometimes be imprisoned in the religious environment and traditional perspective, we grew up even as tongue talking, charismatic, Pentecostal Christians. I have therefore sought to use this short note to highlight some of the credible, important truth we’ve learned, but have also been discovered to be grossly limiting in our theological and spiritual experience in truly moving on to discover the ascended Christ in his full glory and sovereignty. We must all seek to press beyond the 30, and 60-fold experience of our walk with the Lord to that realm of fullness of revelatory insight and experience after the resurrected, ascended life in Christ.

While many of us might have started our journey of the knowledge of Jesus Christ the son of Joseph and Mary, the carpenter who stepped into ministry at the age of 30 years with great powerful miracle and healing ministry behind him. We must also, however, thrive in our quest to know the Jesus Christ, who sat in mount Olive and taught us some of the most powerful, systematic human interpersonal concept of relationship. [Mathew chapter 5, 6, and 7]

Further still, we need to press into, and beyond knowing the Jesus Christ, the son of man and the son of God, with great healing and miracle ministry who could see into people’s hearts and intentions even before they open their mouth. Still, we can further go on to know the Jesus Christ, who is the son of man and the son of God who did more than feeding, healing, and providing for the domestic, socioeconomic needs of people as highly important and necessary these various aspects of Christ ministry is to man.

Yet, we must proceed beyond this great knowledge of the Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who fights our battles for us and provides for all our needs, to the Jesus Christ, whose ultimate desire is to be our king and lord regardless of our status and condition in life.
Meaning that we must go on to know the Jesus Christ who is the king of kings and lord of lords. Meaning that this revelation of Jesus Christ must see all human authority has one that comes from him directly or indirectly.

This revelation of Jesus Christ of Nazareth understands that no authority on earth or in the heaven exist without his knowledge and approval. This kind of spiritual insight requires a different pattern of thinking to accept and embrace this profound theological concept of Christ sovereignty, when one considers all the evil, tyrannical rulers the world has experienced, and some are still witnessing unfortunately in some regions of the world today. All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus Christ, the son of the living God.

Yet, still, we must proceed to know that Jesus Christ is far beyond his position of power and authority over all forms of darkness and evil system. We also need to know by revelation and deep experience, the all compassionate, loving heart of Jesus Christ for all humans of all race, color, tongue and tribe, and all creation seen and unseen.

It will however also be presumptive to stop our knowledge and acknowledgement of Christ even from this grand position of truth. The current, increasing culture of a utilitarian gospel cannot, and will never bring us to the true scope of identifying and interacting with the ascended revelatory life of Christ that is highly needed in efficiently handling the complex challenges of human life.

We will need to understand by heart that all that Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the son of the living God did in his human, earthly ministry is not to be compared to his ascended, revelatory life and nature when we finally move beyond what we’ve seen and experienced before, during, and after the cross. Meaning, what we know from this limited prism of truth and revelation.

We must go on to the realm of the ascended life of the resurrected and ascended Christ to begin to understand his eternal intention and design for us. All we will ever know, experience and receive from Jesus Christ on this side of the eternity is merely a fraction to the ascended revelatory knowledge of who we are, and who Christ is to us. Friends, the revelation of Jesus Christ are in degrees of knowledge and experience regardless of our depth of relationship with Christ.

There’s a Jesus Christ, we know before the cross, there’s a deeper revelation of Christ revealed after his resurrection, which began to reveal Christ from the context of his kingdom purpose. But further still, the full reality of Jesus Christ began to be unveiled to the church when John was banished to the island of Patmos to see and hear the ascended, glorified voice of him who spoke like the voice of many waters who is Christ, the pattern son.

It was from this mountainous island of Patmos, that place of secluded elevation that John was invited to see what no human has ever seen or understood of the true revelatory reality of the ever-increasing life, glory, power, and authority of Jesus Christ who is both a Lion and the Lamb at the same time.

This is the main reason the book of revelation is called the revelation of Jesus Christ. It is important we know that the book of revelation is about the person of Jesus Christ in relationship with his chosen, victorious bride who has made herself ready. Beyond the apocalyptic wars, images, signs, wonders, creatures, and the grand victory of good over evil, the book of revelation is about the unveiling of the glory of Christ, the pattern Son to his conquering, victorious church.

It’s time to go beyond the veil and discover the revelatory life and light revealed between the ministry of the cherubim. It’s time to move to the next reality of our revelatory walk with Christ as we continue to feed on the fruit of the tree of life.

Hebrews 6
1 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.

Let’s go on in search for the eternal, in-depth experience locked in Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life.

REVELATION, PERCEPTION AND ITS INTERPRETATION Conclusion

revelationperception-and-intepretation

By Isaiah-Phillips Akintola

PERSONAL VIEW AND REVELATION

Many, in their zeal and excitement of describing what they’ve perceived or felt in their spiritual journey will usually accept such knowledge or experience to be the literal, general acceptable yardstick standard of spiritual accuracy and development. To the degree that they, in most cases, fall into the trap of measuring, viewing and even interpreting others spiritual life through their one-sided, piggy hole, personal revelatory position unfortunately.

The fact is, some of us, in our personal walk with the lord may have reached certain spiritual zenith or experience if you will, that may even suggest we have embodied some of the greatest depths of prophetic revelatory knowledge, and that is fine. However, we need to constantly remind ourselves at all occasions to put into context and perspective the kind of audience we are relating to. Meaning that the more we can discern the spiritual level and standard of the individual or community, we are interacting with helps us understanding what to share, and how best to convey the revelation we want to share.

Declaring what you believe has been given to you doesn’t mean you’re wrong, particularly in an era of fast social media platforms. And it should not also be assumed that those who may refuse your persuasion and position of revelation at the ‘moment’ are wrong too.  We certainly all don’t wake up at the same time.

The sun rises earlier in some time zone than other places. This is true with the issue of spiritual development and maturity. This fact doesn’t stop us from sharing with others, the deep things of the Spirit. In fact, our desire is to leave behind the elementary realities of the gospel and migrate further into the ascended realm of transformation in Christ. My point is, while we may pursue the advance dimension of kingdom life, we should never impose that position we have just discovered with others.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT AND REVELATION.

While our journey towards the zenith of the revelation of Christ, the full status of all truth carries a universal sound of awakening and development. However, the transitional momentum and experience towards such confluence of sound is usually a unique, personal dealings of knowledge and experience that must be respected and appreciated by all. While others may get stirred, motivated and encouraged through what is preached and taught, how they process the information, and relate to the lord in terms of their exposure to the truth they’ve received will ultimately determine their spiritual growth, capacity maturity onto that next level in transition.

Revelation is one of the most beautiful and most important aspects of the dynamism of spiritual growth and transition. The elevated knowledge received through the opening of the mystery of revelation comes with the tendency, if care is not taken, to develop a sense of superiority complex.  The word of God says, Knowledge puffs up, including spiritual knowledge.

This is a highly sensitive and conscious place to be as we move to seek to know and build the designed mind of the father for our day. The desire to want to know things, more so, if they are things that must do with the future, is a quest more Christian and non-Christian alike tenaciously longs for.

The fact is, the quest to seek the unknown is what the enemy used in the first place in the garden to seduced Eve to disobey the instruction of the father. That same desire is what the evil one is using to lure many to seek all forms of false portals to gain access into what is unclear to them. Having access today into that which intended for tomorrow gives humans, some sense of security, and that answers the many reasons why millions today have fallen prey to the spirit of false prophetic ministry.

As believers and followers of the lamb, it is critical that we understand that revelation, regardless of it’s grand influence, is should never be assumed as the yardstick of measuring spiritual development or maturity. Revelation is a key that grants access to that which is hidden to the natural faculty. While revelation allows, us access into divine things, the condition and posture of our spirit-man, however will determine what we do with such revelatory information.

The act of revelation Itself does not determine nor alter the shape of affairs; it is how we understand and precisely execute the revelatory knowledge that produces impact and the desired transformation. Indeed, revelational [truth] knowledge can greatly enhance our process of development in making the necessary adjustments through the divine knowledge accessed, as we apply wisdom and understanding to the decisions we are taking. The part you’ve been shown or given in terms of revelational insight was designed to shift your understanding with regards to the demand of the lord for your growth.

Furthermore, the ministry of revelation, which is one of the core arm of the prophetic ministry, is designed as a schoolmaster, assigned to prep the saints on the oracles of biblical spiritual growth and development into the perfect day in Christ. So, when we make statements relating to our spiritual (status) state of knowledge, understanding or experience, regardless of how genuine our expression, we must vigorously seek to effectively communicate such position of truth in a humble, balanced, persuasive, intelligent manner.

Our communication of divine matters, including the ministry of revelation and restored truth should always cause our students, audience or listeners to seek to what to learn by appreciating what we are saying in the spirit of grace and humility. This implies that when people hear or read our stuffs, while they admire us, we should never create an impression or atmosphere that suggests we are better and indispensable to the people. While people can enjoy the freedom to respect, honor and even serve the grace of the Lord in our lives due to sacrificial lifestyle they can see in us.

They should, however never be encouraged to think they cannot be more proficient than us in their pursuit of revelation in fulfilling their own given assignment. If our materials or message of faith directly or indirectly shifts the heart of the people to start looking at us as some super spiritual being, we have certainly set ourselves up to fail.

While people seek to honor and appreciate us, and in fact, they should do that as often as they are led by the lord. We must, however never suggest the idea of spiritual superiority in our communication and representation of divine things. There’s a need to always try to (display) show how the Lord brought us to that point of spiritual (experience) persuasion and understanding of spiritual things, for this is the chief purpose of the mission of a teacher.

Everything our lord did was reveal to his disciple after the crowd had left. The matters he felt they were not ready for was kept to be revealed through the ministry of the Holy Spirit after his ascension. Our spiritual expression should not be understood as if we are communicating revelatory knowledge with sublime arrogance and pride. We must seek to bring the people up to the next level of the father’s plan for the people and not where we think they should be in our own measure standard of life.

It’s so easy to presume where the people should be because we measure ourselves by other’s standards. Constantly remember that there are three levels of believers and positions in our Christian Faith, and in in fact, all we know and express in our ministry of truth and revelation are also benchmarked by these three levels according to the word of God.

I am referring to what Christ called the thirty-fold position, the sixtyfold and of course, the hundredfold dimension which relates to the fullness or completeness of all things in Christ. All that was created in the development of the body of Christ are designed in parts. Your assumed fullness or completeness is only a part of a greater dimension within the body that must fit into its rightful place for the church to perfectly function towards that point of maximum creativity and productivity kingdom community.  It is naive for a community like the Corinthians church to be engaging in ideas of the second coming of Christ amongst themselves while they are just beginning the process of developing and integration as a community being commissioned to interpret the prophetic purposes of the lord for their region and time.

AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH

Those called to be leaders and role model in the current advanced emergence of kingdom order, must develop beyond the mere preaching and celebration of the revelation to its intended, precise position of strategic implementation. It is biblically clear that revelation is for personal development and corporate edification. Yet, the implementation of such given (truth) revelation becomes highly relevant when it can make contact and impact through the domain of its carrier to the society.

A revelation that does not produce the creative life force of growth, reform and transformation within and outside our immediate environment needs to be reconsidered of its source and authenticity.  Heaven centered revelation as seen through scripture must make contact and impact with the earth in a way that attracts the attention of the people of the world to a new standard and position of kingdom lifestyle.  Our lord Jesus Christ as we know, was, and he’s still is, the embodiment of all spiritual insight and revelatory knowledge. He is the Revelator and the revelation. Still, his life and message was felt in the corridors of political and economic powers of his days.

The entire Roman Empire system knew him. They recognized his authenticity and influence without raising an army or sword to fight. If truly, the revelation given to you has become flesh, it will progressively and naturally transform your world and environment without effort. It’s amazing how today’s church loves running with powerful kingdom truths that are yet to develop and transform us internally.

We revel in sharing what we’ve seen, and that’s good, but not good enough if we are going to represent the affairs of the kingdom. It must be that which we have seen, touched and our hands have handled having been with him on the mount. That is a true reflection of the force of an ascended life. The word became flesh and dwelt among men, and we beheld his glory…

After the encounter of the revelation at the upper room, there was an immediate contact with the religious system of the day that attract the attention of Roman Empire leadership. Authentic spiritual insight or revelation must be transformed into a viable, creative nonresistance force that attracts the nations into the field of the lord’s harvest. The big question is, are the nations beholding the glory of what we are today declaring as a revelation today? Something to think about.

THE CORINTHIAN CHURCH, A GOOD EXAMPLE

As insightful and matured the Corinthians church seem in chapter 1 of Corinthians, one would expect this church to also be a community of peaceful, united, corporate community, pursuing the grace and life of their corporate assignment in the spirit of matured understanding. Unfortunately, it’s not so, as you begin to read chapters two and three further, you start to see the childishness and immaturity of this community.

Suddenly you get the sense of how far they are from what was depicted in chapter one as well spiritually developed community. I use to know folks back in my teenage days as a zealous Christian in separate search for anointing and revelation. In those days, there was a sense of deep respect and admiration for anyone who seem to have in depth knowledge and insight into the word of God.

Young fellow will spend there to school fees or their incomes to buy Christian literatures. Others, like me, who seem to have a partial understanding of a calling will go for concordance, commentaries and theological materials just to polish my spiritual insight, and I can tell you that it was enjoyable. Nevertheless, the purpose of this seemingly wonderful spiritual request was to prove a point to others that you’re the best. Thus, while people listen and applauded what was coming out of my mouth, my heart was taking the glory. The exercise was never truly designed to bring glory to the lord. It was all about competition. This is the same thing I see today amongst many leaders. While they are articulating the right things in terms of what is expected, their hearts, however are seeking to take the glory.

When need to understand that the mouth can say all the right things while our hearts does not truly engage in the spirit of truth to want to see constructive change. A word that is yet to affect us cannot transform the listeners regardless of how finely fitted our lingual expression. Revelation is not simply about the use of words to communicate something we believe has been given or shown to us. Truly revelation is called to see and experience that which is behind the veil of human understanding to adjust our lives to fit that heavenly pattern.

Therefore, seeking to understand what we’ve seen is a critical component of being custodians of the ministry of revelation. Making ambiguous statement, more so in our spiritual stands only without a standardized balance of a guiding doctrine, complicates the primary objective of the purpose of communicating our faith and hope which is to ultimately bring edification.  If we effectively communicate our spiritual position with the purpose to educate, reform and transform, we will eventually edify and build up the body into fullness in all things in as we convey revelation guided by the character quality of the fruits of our regenerate spirit.

REVELATION, PERCEPTION AND ITS INTERPRETATION

img_2989

INTRODUCTION

The most elementary, basic definition of the word revelation means to reveal or to unveil. Elohim, from the dawn of time has made the ministry of revelation his primary assignment. Creation itself is the very revelation of the father’s creative character nature.

Due to the deepest, hidden character nature of the father’s existence, he chose to create, formulate and express his own very nature through the creation of the first man in Eden. When he said let us make man in our own image and likeness, that was one of the most powerful and amazing declarations in the word of God that proves the ever-willingness of the father to both show and express his unveiling nature and creative wisdom.

It is obvious that Eden was not the genesis of all the creation of the Godhead. Eden however was the beginning of the introduction of another dimension of his character essence through the introduction of man. That which once lived solely in one dimension of eternity can now be seen or even accessed through the creation of man.  The conception of man in the garden of Eden was the beginning of the revelation of another dimension of the glorious, majestic, powerful nature of the father’s sovereignty over all things.

Man, was, and is still is the mystery that conceals and unveil some of the deepest secrets of the nature of the Godhead, and it’s for this reason it is said that eternality is (hidden) placed within man. Deep within the spirit of the regenerated man lies one of the most powerful spiritual realities and characteristics of the very essence of God, the creator of all things. Everything about man speaks and breath the very life of his creator. Man, is the seed of God, manifested in fruit of the character essence of his creator. The more man learns his place and substance in his creator, the more he can discover and recover from his fallen position from grace.

MY FOCUS

My focus, however, through this short note is not on the nature or purpose of revelation, but on how it is perceived, interpreted and misused in the vast community of saints across the globe today.

My intention is to therefore distinguish between the various understandings that guide and lead us to assume and prematurely conclude on the issue of personal revelation, which is today causing a major problem within the corporate community life of the church.

DEFINING REVELATION

Revelation, by nature, deals with issues and events that are both within the confines of time and outside of time. Revelation is designed to bridge two realms and worlds within the life of a redeemed person. Revelation is a sneak-view into the magnificent mystery of the life of Christ that is a living, embodied testament of an unfolding event that is already fulfilled within the characteristic life of the ministry of Christ in eternity.

The ministry of the (that which is revealed) mystery of Christ is the most eminent of all courses of knowledge and uncovering. There can’t be nothing higher or greater of either spiritual, academic or scientific than to possess a pure revelatory knowledge of the ascended Christ in his full glory. Nevertheless, this eternally fulfilled life in Christ must first become a working process of redemption and devotion in time for the union of what is already fulfilled to be completed in us.

Revelation is a continual process of an unveiling finished prophetic destiny of humanity and creation, carried out by a remnant generation, worthy to be chosen to participate in the birth and the fulfillment of the mysteries of the father, as seen through the exemplary life of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the son of Mary and Joseph.

COMPREHENSION AND REVELATION

Our understanding and interpretation of revelation must precede beyond the confinement of what may have been suggested to us by various school of thought and opinions, or better still, by what may appear to be the obvious interpretation of the answer needed within our own limited definition and understanding of knowledge, and I am referring to spiritual knowledge.

Since the comprehension of revelation or other forms of spiritual reality is an integral part of spiritual development, then it is assumed that anyone given access into divine reality will vigorously seek the deepest and most precise meaning and interpretation of what has been shown. This was clearly seen through the engagement of most of the prophets in the word of God. A good example is Zachariah, Daniel and John the beloved on the island of Patmos.

The upgrade of our Insight and perception into the character nature of sound, biblical spiritual foundation must then give us the precise footing and framework in both approaching and growing to comprehend with the objective for accurate interpretation of the given revelation. This, of course, must be done within the context of both the scripture and what has been communicated to us through the vehicle of revelation. How well informed in the matters of sound and balanced biblical doctrine and the maturing of the spiritual template of the recipient spirit-man, in relation to the character quality of the Spirit described in the book of Isaiah chapter 11:2 will ultimately determine the degree or intensity of the accuracy of his or her interpretation.

A PERSONAL VIEW OF REVELATION

It’s so easy to describe and even paint the image of a view seen from a (elevated) point or dimension without the necessary awareness of higher heights of the same mountain. There’s no doubt that this same view reality defines how most Christians experience and apply their dimensionality (revelatory) insight of a truth received as the yardstick standard in measuring their own growth or worst still, the spiritual level or position of others.  Cast your mind back to the amount of time you’ve been in some sort of argument or quarrel with another believer based on the issue of revelation, or better still, what you believed is the truth that should be emphases. I can confidently state that the major battle taking place today within the body of Christ is that of revelatory acceptance and practice.

We struggle and push each other to accept our own side of the story without considering maybe there’s a greater depth to what we’ve received.  We long for people to understand and believe what we are so certain the lord showed and gave to us on the mountain. Many of us have made enemies of our own brothers just for the fact that they cannot understand or receive what we believe to be our momentary truth.  The war over truth is now one of the fiercest battles of all times. Some today, who have taken the position of determining what is truth or not, seems to be lacking in some of the basic character qualities of the fruit of righteousness needed as the template that formulate the nature of the truth they claimed to be representing.

In other words, we can claim to have what may be termed as revelation, but yet, not necessarily displaying the necessary transforming lifestyle of the ministry of kingdom truth that judges and holds the basis of our revelation.

REVELATION WITHOUT FRUIT

Some of the company of what may be recognized as the prophetic apostolic reformation is becoming more of a spiritual elite club that only allows a particular kind of individuals who exclusively believe and accept the doctrine and dogma of such groups. I sometimes wonder what would have become of my own fate and that of millions, if the father had left the benchmark of spiritual growth and attainment to the hand of few ‘spiritual elites’.

Spiritual elitism has become a major challenge among many today, who claim to be seeing and representing the new spiritual shift and standard within the apostolic reformation company. There’s absolutely no question that we are during one of the glorious days of the lord, since the advent of the ecclesia over 2000 years ago.  Seasons of refreshing have been witnessed across the globe. Still, a far more glorious day of the lord is now upon us that requires corporate development and mutual understanding of the ministry of ascending truth.

The church has witnessed some major growth and development since its inception, and we are near to witness again a more powerful movement of the redemptive prophetic program of the father across the world, and all this will take place because someone hungry enough of the things of the Spirit will be given access into a dimension that can shift and impact realities in the natural realm.

When we tap into dimensions that allows us to see what heaven desire to birth and model in the world as a true reflection of the father’s purpose and will, his kingdom becomes even more and more visible in the earth. The increase and flow of the ministry of revelation, particularly that which holds a rich sense of prophetic initiatives and engagement, usually comes with a touch of excitement, mostly where there’s little or no sense of balanced knowledge and wisdom to absorb.

MISINTERPRETATION AND REVELATION

More so if the received revelation is immediately associated with prioritizing training, skill, preparation and of course, maturity for precise representation. This wonderful sense of preparation and readiness are in most cases, misjudged due to a misinterpretation of the time or season of the fulfillment of the received revelation, which usually leads to a fictitious sense of expectation.

When revelation is mixed with a sense of preparation, steadiness, consistency in the lifestyle of truth appropriation, this development will eventually bring to bear the ministry of fulfillment. There’s certainly no doubt of the fact that ninety percent of the challenges currently being witnessed in the body of Christ are associated with the issue of revelation. Think of how many times we hide behind the word revelation or ‘God showed or told me’ just to get even with those who hurt us and release a relationship we encounter no longer befits us.

USING REVELATION FOR PERSONAL AGENDA

Since there’s no monopoly to revelation, and there are very few biblical values being taught to help us accurately judge what brethren term as revelation, we have continued to witness confusion and chaos, so much that the sacred ministry of truth and revelation has become one of our best vendetta machinery to settle lots of unresolved issues among ourselves, and this has continued to hinder and weakened the maturing and manifestation of the fullness of Christ life within the body.

In my strongest view, that which we are seeing today in the name of revelation amongst the saints is not a true reflection of the kind of fruit that matches the divine, biblical measurement of the ministry of revelation.  There’s so much noise of what is expected, but less fruit. Many have perfected the act of identifying what the kingdom looks like or should reflect. But very few have (entered) accessed the realm of the kingdom life to accurately model and display what the kingdom truly is. We are still stock in the realm of our first day knowledge of the matters of the kingdom. Yes, we’ve been born again filled with the Spirit, but our conducts and level of understanding still proves that we are among the first and second day of the outer court activity of the kingdom life.

Reviewing the Church’s transition

by Isaiah-phillips Akintola

PERSPECTIVE ON TRANSITION

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. (Hebrews 6:4-6 NIV)

This scripture calls us to a very crucial subject in our spiritual journey, which I think any serious follower of the way need to carefully examine as we consider how far we have come in the call from rigorous humanistic religion system.  Few months back The Lord began to direct my heart towards the whole concept of reviewing the transition, which began early mid-90s, it’s been two decade now since apostolic reformation came to a general knowledge, at list in some regions of the earth. Thanks to those precious vessels who offered themselves as portals of this great outpouring.

I will not be lured into making the mistake of naming or tagging certain personalities who assumed themselves to be the custodian or birth place of this move of the Spirit because that will certainly be classified as idolatry before The Lord. It is true that The Lord uses certain prepared vessels to open the next channel of his ordained desired plan for a region, nation or generation. However, no person or ministry for that matter should dear proclaim ownership to what God initiate for his glory. John was the portal to the ministry of Christ. He however did not claim ownership to that ministry. if fact, he showed us the right attitude pattern in relation to him been the portal to the ministry of Christ.  He proclaimed his diminishing for Christ ultimate exaltation.

THE TRANSITION IN REVIEW

In the last two decade, a lot has taking place in terms of the delivery and advancement of the apostolic reformation message, its extremes and misrepresentation and commoditization of the ministry by unrefined charlatan men and women in the Body of Christ.  While I am not doing a full exegesis of what I may call the apostolic transition, however, I intend to touch on some vital points i felt the Holy Spirit highlighted within my spirit during the cause of reviewing this transition.

This scripture we are considering brings to light some fundamental point we should consider as safeguard to the ongoing reformation of the Church. I am grateful to be one of those whom The Lord impressed his desire to shake the very foundation and structure of the church until every iota of the old man’s strength and wisdom is completely rid of and Christ the King, finally take his place on the throne of each heart.  I have had my own fare shear of the gruesome shaken.

MY OWN EXPERIENCE

The past twenty years of my life has been a season of great dealings, disappointment, discouragement, abused, confused, frustrated and even sometimes, wishing to die due to the hard pressing of the dealings of The Lord upon my flesh. On the same breath, the season has brought a depth of spiritual wisdom, development, productivity and maturity into my personal life, which I think is the core of a future ministry.  Truly, the Lords burden is lite and his yoke is easy to them who submit to his ways and wisdom.

It is however important to emphasize that not everyone during the call to transit heeded the call. For those men and women who did not respond to the call to transit from their default Charismatic Pentecostal wineskin who are in are ministry today, will certainly continue to enjoy great blessing and success in their lives and ministry due to their giftedness and the preciousness of the souls under their care.

However, it is highly important we note that the third day ministry is not centered on gifts only. Gifts are designed to enhance the nature and fruit of the Spirit so we are not lacking in any way. Those who will be ministering in realm of the power of the Age to come will operate beyond the realm of giftedness or Charisma. When the very life of God is well seated in the spirit and soul of men, gifts become second nature we don’t solicit for.

These caliber of men who refuse to submit to their day of Character transformation, though are working in certain spiritual gift will however not enter certain dimensions of kingdom light. They will be limited to the ministry of the outer court as prophet Ezekiel shows us in chapter 44 of Ezekiel. Dimensions of the nature and heart of the Father will be concealed to them. Most of them might even make it to heaven but that is not a major priority in the scale of spiritual approval.

 VESSELS AND THEIR FUNCTION

The word of The Lord informs us of the various qualities of vessel in the house of God. Some vessels are unto honor while others are for ignoble use. While all the vessels carry a functional place in the hands of The Lord, there are however, certain vessels designed uniquely for the master’s purpose. These are vessel unto honor as the bible described them.  The purging of self-nature is what qualifies which vessel is designed for the master’s use.

And this vessel unto honor will continue to be refined and polished on a regular basis until every iota of self-dies.  Having said this, those who are wise will enroll themselves in the process of transition as they read the trend of changing season.

The process of spiritual transition should not be seen to be only limited to just the corporate Church; individuals and families alike, who desire to be used of The Lord in whatever level will need to experience the pain and joy of transition so their heart can accurately align to better represent the glory of the latter house.

 ABORTING THE PROCESS

Having establish this thought, I will like us to consider the state of many who began this transition initially, one’s heart get filled with sadness and disappointment due to kind of on Christ-like attitude and trend in display by these follows. These brethren who we thought had some degree of spiritual enlightenment and have tasted of the power of the ages to come, in terms of their introduction to the life and light of the kingdom of God, are now walking contrary to what the transition ought to have dealt with in them. Some have gone as far as showing symptom of an apostate state, which certainly call for great concern. Therefore, I will like us to consider this issue as we examine how far we have come in this transition.

Apostasy is not limited to an eschatological study of the end time events, It is a current ongoing reality as the gruesome drilling of the transition experience bites hard on many of us summoned to leave our fathers house unto a land He (God) will show us.

One of the core purposes of this current transition is to expose the hidden, manipulative complex layers of how the soul wants us to carry on living life and doing ministry. The ministry of the current transition is to expose us to ourselves perhaps, in the knowledge of the fear of God; we will turn our heart in repentance for these residues of the old Adamic template to be nailed to the cross.

 THE PURPOSE OF TRANSITION

Transition has always been a powerful spiritual process The Lord has used from one generation to another in terms of carrying out the work of separation and preparation of those he has elected for a sacred prophetic mandate. Through the Church age, we have read of men and women The Lord led into the wilderness of refinement and purification for their assignment in the great commission.

However, not everyone who accepts the enlistment of transition had the testimony of passing the test of this divine qualification. The standard we have used through the prism of certain leaders deemed to have great success in the past have proven to have fallen short of divine requirement for the current mandate of The Lord for his people.

Therefore, The Lord called for a shaking of the foundation of what we call church, and the result of that spiritual shaken is quite evident all around today. The renovation of the house of God, which was initially accepted by many of us in the early 90s, who enjoyed a blissful season of the apostolic revelation even though we had very limited knowledge of its very intension, in terms of the complete stripping of everything we thought we had, knew or understood in regards to the purpose and function of the ecclesia.

Today, the process and burden of that transition has led many to compromise their faith and relationship with the Body of Christ as they watch everything they have built with their hand go up in the blazing flame of The Lord.  The spirit of reformation that came with that apostolic message has laid a strong prophetic axe on the root of all we defined to be success and breakthrough in ministry; unfortunately, many can no longer continue on the rigorous stripping process of their transition.

The truth many never understood what it means to be called to be a servant, enrolled to minister in the Lords vineyard.  Many still carry this false notion that whatever they’ve achieve in terms of ministry breakthroughs, prosperity and wealth belongs to them. Therefore, the have developed what I call self-ownership mentality ministry. The truth is, whatever The Lord gave to us must never be seen as ours; no, they belong to God. Whatever The Lord deems fit to give to us in propagation of his kingdom through our lives should never replace who seats on the throne of our hearts.

Transition season is one of the most powerful tools The Lord uses to regulate the condition of the heart, and that means, we may have be stripped of what we have come to depend and trust as our provider.  Therefore, aborting the process of what qualifies you to be a vessel unto honor indeed proves the footing and agenda of many in the frontline church ministry today. Beyond this rejection of the transition, many however are falling into what seem to be an apostate state of heart.

The hardening of the heart and the rejection of certain biblical truth as part of doctrinal foundation of establishing the community of the saints is a worrying trend today. While few who shared in the prophetic apostolic release of the early 90s have made giant stride in the spirit, unfortunately, others have used it to leverage their ministry personality. The message and the grace which came with it has been personalized and commoditized, which is leading huge number of believers to fall away from the ancient path of the patriarchs.

Many churches who initially embraced the message of reformation sadly have become a cult center today where members are been initiated to a cult of methodology, personality worship or even the worship of the message itself.  Rather than showing the revelational nature and culture of Christ and his kingdom to the people. To others who are still struggling to maintain their faith-walk through the little flicker of light in them, their whole experience of Christianity has tuned to more or less, dogmatic and ritualistic exercise.  Their spiritual life has become like that of the Pharisee who has lost their moral and spiritual compass; therefore, the direction into the heart of the Father has been systematically truncated.

EXPOSING THE SPIRIT OF APOSTASY

There is a present call to be precisely disciple in the nature and philosophy of the kingdom of God. Many Christians have been established in the doctrine of their Churches and denominations but are clueless regarding the principles values and pattern of God’s kingdom lifestyle.  And that’s the reason why the church is still very immature and divided about trivial things.

The spirit of apostasy is gaining ground in among many Christian communities today and we certainly need to expose it through an elevated knowledge and wisdom of Christ revelation and authority.  Apostasy is the drifting away of the heart from a high point of spiritual truth to the lowest level of compromise, until one starts questioning basic principles, values and standards of sound biblical doctrines.

Apostasy is a falling away from relationship both with God and those who can bring correction to us, and the desire to repent is no longer found in us. When we start making excuses for our short coming and also claim to be at peace with ourselves, we have stepped into a very dangerous zone of self-delusion, which is a higher dimension of deception.

If we consider deception beyond the definition of half-truth to a position of moving from the center-point, then we shall truly guard our hearts from been lured away from the path of our transition. Transition does not do not necessary mean big revelation nor is it doing BIG things for God. It is simply moving upward in trust, faith and obedience to the will and purposes of God in every season of your life. Transition does not mean the discarding of foundational truth you learned in your outer court experience of salvation; actually, it is building on them to you can have what is known as a balanced spiritual and psychological perception of life. There are certain spiritual principles and values we will never outgrow and it think it’s important we keep those points as highwater mark within our spirit.

NOT FORGETTING BASICS IN THE TRANSITION

One of the main points among several subjects the Lord is highlighting in other to safeguard our season in the transition. issues of developing a renewed sense of zeal, a passionate hunger for the REVELATION OF THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD, an unsatisfied drive to meditate on scripture on a regular bases; a keen interest to hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit without distortion, and a corporate sense of our connectivity as the community of Christ Body.

There is absolutely no way those on the transitional trail can step into the full scope of their ordained prophetic destiny without an habitual template of seeking to be one with the Spirit of God’s word. It was reveal to me some time ago how many have become disillusioned regarding the whole process of this ongoing transition. While many in the current apostolic move are parroting a so-called revelational message that is yet to transform them to the place of total conformity to the very nature of Christ, Others, regrettably have fallen back to their old Pentecostal default ‘bless and protect me’ message.

JESUS, OUR PATTERN

scripture reveals to us how Jesus of Nazareth, born by ordinary human, maintained a consistent obedience in his spiritual lifestyle, as part of the virtue needed in preparation of getting acquainted with the nature and life that will afford to fully express the will of his heavenly Father at every injunction.  Growing daily in the knowledge of the revelation of his Father, as preparative ground was something Jesus learned to do as concept of transition to the place of maturity and full representation.  Jesus knew that becoming what the Spirit designed him for was not going to happen by mere declaration of a gospel his inner most being was not confirmed to.  He clearly understood that prioritizing time in seeking to hear, know and precisely understand the demand of the Father is not negotiable if he must live in that constant state of pleasing him.

Consolidating on what the latter rain Pentecostal charismatic move restored to the Church is crucially important if we are going to precisely move unto the day next of perfection. We need not to forget that the journey into the holiest of all is through the outer court and the inner court. The experience of both the outer and inner court spirituality are designed to prepare the ground for what we are about to see, hear and become in this third day.

This systematic concept of the Father introducing himself and his glory to us is a way of calling us to maturity. However, forgetting to inculcate what we have learned in terms of the principles and values these two orders restored to the community life of the church, will be highly detrimental to the full formation of the culture and philosophy of Christ and his kingdom within our hearts.

While the point I am trying to convey might sound very elementary to some Christians, it is however important that we should note that millions of church goers in certain regions are yet to be introduced to what can be referred to as John’s baptism not to talk of coming into the reality of Christ baptism. it is also a fact that those who today claimed to have been (baptized) introduced  to what is today known as ‘prophetic apostolic reformation’ have dramatically drifted away from the core values of the faith. Extra-biblical doctrines have set into many communities in the of ‘ kingdom revelation’.

COMPONENT OF SPIRITUAL MATURITY

Spiritual development and maturity starts with a keen continual sense of relationship and obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit who will subsequently introduce us to the prophetic requirement and standard of the Lord for each new season in the migration. Knowing and growing in the knowledge of the ministry of the Spirit of truth is a continual experience that paves the way for greater revelational knowledge of Christ and his kingdom. As we track the current demand of the Lord in terms of the ongoing transition of the Church to that place of perfected maturity, everyone must reexamine the condition of the relationship with the Lord and his Body-the Church. Whatever will be taking place as part of kingdom initiative will have to start with the correctness and reconfiguration of the human Spirit, So, let’s aim to finish well so we can be commended by The Lord.
