THE REVELATION OF GODS ARMOR IN RESETTING YOUR THINKING.

The concept of the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) is often misunderstood in the Church today. Many treat it as a mystical incantation or a set of religious ritual; something we “activate” through rote prayers or symbolic gestures. But the Armor of God is not a charm; it is a mindset rooted in the attitude of submission and obedience to Godโ€™s word and will.

The armor of Christ is a complete submission to Godโ€™s divine order of thinking, reasoning, and warfare. To truly wear this armor, we must precisely understand the battlefield of the mind, where every thought is either aligned with Godโ€™s truth or captive to lies denial and deception.

Understanding the Armor of God

Putting on the armor of God is a profound spiritual concept that requires more than just intellectual knowledge. It demands the renewal of the mind and a spiritual awakening, and of course, a deeper understanding of God’s design in the process and protocol of kingdom warriors.

The armor of God is spiritual by nature, operating in a realm beyond human comprehension, and yet it must resonate with the demand of mind transformation. We cannot wear the armor of God on an unregenerate mind. As we have taught in precious sessions that we cannot talk about spirituality without factoring the subject of mindset. Effective spiritual understanding begins with a deep sense of the operation of our mentality.

Defining Spirituality and the armor of God

Spirituality, in the context of the armor of God, refers to a realm that transcends human understanding, encompassing the character, values, beliefs, and faith order established by God. This is distinct from worldly or demonic spirituality. The armor of God is not a physical entity but a life of obedience and submission to God’s principles, standards, and wisdom. It’s about aligning our thoughts, values, and actions with God’s Word, modeled after Jesus Christ.

 Obedience Over Rituals

Putting on the armor of God involves walking in accordance with God’s established faith, obeying His statutes, and practicing truth based on His revealed standards. This is a defensive mechanism that protects and empowers us in spiritual warfare.

Effective Application

To truly benefit from the armor, we must understand how to wear it and use it according to God’s divine order of warfare. This requires spiritual wisdom, knowledge, and a changed mindset.

The armor of God is a robust biblical belief system and kingdom lifestyle that demands proper understanding and application. When applied correctly, it empowers us to live an effective Christian life and advance God’s intentions on earth.

Letโ€™s examine some key points regarding this Armor

1. The Armor of God is a Spiritual Reality

Spirituality is not merely about supernatural experiences; it is about alignment with Godโ€™s nature. Not all “spirituality” is godlyโ€”some is demonic, sensual, and deceptive (James 3:15).

The Armor of God, however, is divine. It is:

– Rooted in Truth (not human opinions)

– Empowered by Righteousness (not self-righteousness)

– Activated by Faith (not superstition)

– Sustained by the Word (not religious tradition)

This armor is not physical it cannot be worn like a talisman. Instead, it is a way of thinking, a posture of the heart, a discipline of the mind.

2. Resting in Godโ€™s Thoughts (The Key to Spiritual Warfare)

Many believers approach spiritual warfare with anxiety, striving, and mental exhaustion. But true warfare begins with resting in Godโ€™s thoughts.

โ€œYou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3)

– Resting thinking means abiding in Christโ€™s mind (1 Corinthians 2:16).

– It is not passivity, but active trust in Godโ€™s sovereignty.

– When we rest in Him, **His wisdom becomes our defense.

How Does This Relate to the Armor?

Each piece of armor represents a mindset of Christ:

1. Belt of Truth โ€“ Rejecting lies, standing firm in Godโ€™s reality.

2. Breastplate of Righteousness โ€“ Living from identity, not condemnation.

3. Shoes of Peace โ€“ Walking in divine assurance, not fear.

4. Shield of Faith โ€“ Trusting Godโ€™s promises over circumstances.

5. Helmet of Salvationโ€“ Secured in Godโ€™s eternal victory.

6. Sword of the Spirit โ€“ Speaking Godโ€™s Word, not opinions.

The armor is not about fighting harderโ€”itโ€™s about thinking differently.

3. Taking Every Thought Captive (The Discipline of the Armor)

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

The real battle is in the mind. The enemy does not attack us with physical weaponsโ€”he attacks with thoughts, lies, and distortions.

How Do We Take Thoughts Captive?

1. Recognize the Source โ€“ Is this thought from God, my flesh, or the enemy?

2. Challenge It with Truth โ€“ Replace lies with Scripture (e.g., “I am condemned” vs. “There is no condemnation in Christ” โ€“ Romans 8:1).

3. Submit It to Christ โ€“ Surrender every mindset to His Lordship.

The Armor of God is useless if our minds are undisciplined. We must guard our thoughts to walk in victory.

4. The Armor in Action: A Life of Obedience

The Armor of God is not a one-time prayer, it is a lifestyle.

– Truth must be lived, not just recited.

–  Righteousness must be walked out, not just claimed.

–  Faith must be exercised, not just professed.

When we align our thoughts with Godโ€™s Word, the armor functions automatically.

POINTS TO REMIND YOURSELF:

The Armor of God is not a religious routine, it is a revelation of Christ in us. It requires:

โœ…  A renewed mind (Romans 12:2)

โœ…  A submitted will (James 4:7)

โœ…  A disciplined thought life (Philippians 4:8)

Letโ€™s move beyond rituals and step into revelation of and experience of the wearing Godโ€™s armor.
